Prayer Letter from Wales (Woo young Choi) May
To our fellow workers in the Gospel, I send greetings of peace from Lampeter, Wales.
We arrived safely in Lampeter yesterday after completing a two-month trip that began on March 17. I would like to share details of the ministry during our visit to Korea and ask for your prayers.
1. Lectures in Nepal (April 4–19)
Nepal uses its own calendar; April 14 marked the first day of the New Year, 2083. They also hold worship services on Saturdays, just as we do.
I delivered lectures at the Nepal New Covenant College in Biratnagar—the country's second-largest city—and preached at a local church on Sunday.
While the capital, Kathmandu, is in a mountainous region with cooler temperatures, the seminary is in a basin, making it quite hot. Unstable electricity supplies caused frequent power outages, so classrooms became stiflingly hot. We sometimes held classes outdoors. It was deeply encouraging to see students engaged in their studies with such dedication. Please pray that these students will be firmly established in God's Word and grow into capable leaders for the church in Nepal.
On Sunday, I preached at a church planted and led by the seminary’s principal and dean. Despite challenging circumstances, these churches were actively spreading the Gospel and sending missionaries to serve Nepalese people in other regions and even in Dubai.
Through this ministry in Nepal, I once again experienced—with a heart full of gratitude and joy—the biblical truth that God is actively at work among all nations and peoples.
2. The 2nd Global Youth Conference (May 5–15)
Organized by Wales International School (a Christian alternative school), the conference invited missionaries serving in the Philippines and Laos, as well as local teachers and students. The event aimed to foster a generation of young people who prepare themselves—through both faith and competence—to pursue God’s dreams and vision.
It was a precious time of nurturing God’s dreams and vision through worship, Quiet Time (devotionals), expert lectures, and tours of locations such as Seoul, POSCO, Handong Global University, and the Independence Hall of Korea. On the final day, many students shed tears, reluctant to part ways.
Please pray that the participating students from these three nations will be well-prepared in faith and competence, exercise biblical leadership, and fulfill God’s dreams and vision by His grace.
Finally, please keep us in your prayers so that we may adjust well to the time difference and carry out the ministry entrusted to us here through God’s grace and power. I hope you remain healthy and peaceful until the next update.
Sincerely,
Choi Woo-young (from Wales Lampeter)
