Venezuela Earthquake Disaster Emergency Relief

Venezuela devastated by two powerful earthquakes—Please help rescue families trapped in the rubble.

“With a potential death toll of up to 100,000,everything was lost in just over 30 seconds.”

Tragedy on the evening of National Day, a place where lives disappeared in about 30 seconds

On the evening of June 24, 2026, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck northern Venezuela.

And just 30 seconds later, a stronger magnitude 7.5 earthquake shook the same ground again. The worst disaster to strike in 126 years, this day was Venezuela's national holiday.

As of June 26, there were 235 official deaths, more than 1,520 injured, and more than 39,000 people reported missing.

About 200 people are still trapped in the rubble and at least 346 buildings have been damaged. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) issued a desperate warning that the number of future victims could range from at least 10,000 to as many as 100,000.

138 Aftershocks: Children and Families Left with Nowhere to Go

Families who lost their homes in the sudden disaster rushed into the streets, unable to salvage a single thing. Parents tremble in fear, spending the night outdoors while cradling their terrified, weeping children. Though they survived, they have no home to return to and lack even a sip of water or a piece of bread to feed their little ones.

Amidst more than 138 aftershocks, these families are struggling to get through each day, gripped by the constant, paralyzing anxiety of not knowing when the ground might shake again.

Iconic Altamira Building in Venezuelan Capital Collapses Completely

Venezuela’s healthcare and public infrastructure were already paralyzed by a prolonged economic crisis; the powerful earthquake that struck on top of this has brought down even what remained. In Altamira, an iconic affluent neighborhood of the capital, Caracas, a 22-story building completely collapsed, and the airport was shut down after its roof caved in. Eight hospitals sustained damage, and with power and communications cut off, the delivery of outside relief supplies has become extremely difficult.

In places where everything has come to a standstill, Food for the Hungry stands with the community on the ground.

Even in the midst of an urgent crisis that has paralyzed national functions and even large institutions, Friends of Hope Korean American Food for the Hungry is staying by the side of victims in affected areas through local partnerships.

What Venezuela needs, as it is groaning amid the suffocating rubble and the fear of aftershocks, is ‘a helping hand to survive today.’

We provide emergency food kits to children and families facing hunger to help them survive each day, and hygiene and relief kits to help them stay healthy in temporary shelters where infectious diseases can easily spread.

$50 provides a family with a week's supply of food for survival;

$100 provides food and emergency hygiene supplies to prevent disease;

$300 provides food, hygiene supplies, and
